Encyclopedia", a large and comprehensive set of volumes on animal life.
Named after its original editor in chief, Bernhard Grzimek, the encyclopedia
was first published as a 13-volume set in German under the name "Grzimeks
Tierleben" (Grzimek's Animal Life) in 1967-1972. It was translated
into English in 1972-75. The encyclopedia was an international collaboration
by a large number of scientists and remains an important reference to this
day.
Zoologist Bernhard Grzimek (1909-1987)
was the director of the Frankfurt Zoo between the years of 1945-1974, and
served as president of the Frankfurt Zoological Society for over forty
years. |
